“ Apparently the evidence that this myth is based on was printed by the US Army some 30-years-ago in a survival manual, which recommended hats because “40 to 45 per cent of body heat” is lost through the head. The scientists claim that there is no reason to suspect that a large amount of heat is lost through the head and that, in fact, body heat is lost according to exposed surface area.
